Raised in Captivity

{December 3, 2007}   HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, this is like really big news. This morning was…THE FIRST SNOWFALL OF THE ‘07-08 SEASON AT MVILLE! It started as ice and then moved to like 1″ powder. And tomorrow there might be more. MORE SNOW.

This is awesome.

{November 27, 2007}   WOOHOO!

I finished my History of Mexico paper. Now it’s all smooth sailing for now.

{November 23, 2007}   Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everything is well. I’ll write again when I actually get five minutes of space to breathe (I am sick and behind on work), which may not be until next week.

{July 22, 2007}   Fabulous things for today

It was a very very good day, and I have proof.

  • Richard arrived safely in Milwaukee at around 7:00 a.m. CST. It was ironic because he texted me during a dream about me texting him. We texted all day. He went to the Milwaukee’s Best Brewery, Hooters, and a cocktail party. Tough life that boy has, eh? Anyways, he seemed in good spirits, although he was missing me.
  • An asylum in my own backyard? Almost. Don’t get your hopes up for me. Mohansic State Hospital (in nearby Yorktown Heights) was supposed to be built and supposed to be huge. In 1918. It never got built, since those in Westchester and New York City feared pollution. I can’t find a direct link, but I’m assuming that huge mass of land it was supposed to be built on is now Mohansic State Park. That’s just me using syllogism though.
  • I am going on a tour of an abandoned arsenal tomorrow in the middle of the Hudson. The place is supposedly haunted…that’s why Indians never settled there. *ghost noise*
  • Fireworks tomorrow!
  • I finally tightened my new stays.

The three best conversations of today:

Mom (noticing my band on the left ring finger): Why is it there?
Me: Rich moved it on me. He moved his too.
Mom: You didn’t elope, did you?

Me (seeing the Eucharist missing a triangle out of it): That looks like Pac-Man!

Lector: …and for the Deacons, Nuns, and Presbyters, let us pray.
Me: Mom, what’s a Presbyter?
Mom: I don’t know, ask your father.
Me: Dad, what’s a Presbyter?
Dad: How am I supposed to know?
(By the way, Presbyter is a nice big word for priest)

{July 4, 2007}   With love from me to you

Okay, so I am back from Long Island (finally…and I must admit that I do really miss the place) and I am finishing getting ready so that I can be up and at ‘em in six hours to get ready to head down to the New York Historical Society for some good old fasioned dorkiness reenacting. Good news: The General is coming. And this is good, being that it’s our anniversary (two months of dating) and all. He looks damn good in kit. Anyways, come and see me, and wish me luck, as I’m sure that I will be saying that some ill-behaved children need a good case of the Woodshed Treatment.

P.S. – Admission is free if you wear red, white, and blue. Otherwise it’s $10.

{June 25, 2007}   Huzzay!

Manhattanville decided to reinstate 75% of my scholarship for the Fall 2007 semester. This is very very good!

Okay, so the doctor’s appointment wasn’t so bad. The receptionist there was actually smart (most are…there’s a few girls under 25 who really hate being receptionists and show it) and the doctors and nurses were nice. So, no one likes a speculum up their hoohaa (and not the fish, the anatomical part!) first thing in the morning, but it was okay. The only part that terrified me was the pregnancy test. They make you do it anyway. And I sat there for twenty minutes saying “no, no…that’s impossible. It’s fucking impossible” and seeing my life before my eyes. But they came in and were like “you’re good to go” and it made me happy.

And then…and then…and then…I got to see The General! Yay! And we’re going on vacation Friday!!!! I’m totally psyched.

So today, I woke up bleeding profusely and it was not fun. But I went into work and nearly died. Until a miracle happened. The interim vetrinarian (my uncle is up north) bought us all bagels. From Manhattan. I nearly died with joy! And once I did the filing, I got to work on Welcome Wagon projects. Which means, I need 75 letters adressed and stuffed in envelopes but I get to work at home tomorrow! Working at home is rare, and it means I get to sleep in late!

After getting off work (and seeing the four cutest kittens ever!) I went to the store, went home, talked to the General and some other cool people, got dinner at the Diner, went to see dad, and took a shower. And now I’m here. Talking to you.

Oh, and bittersweet news: my aunt’s house up in Franklin got struck by lightning (Sullivan and Delaware Counties got hit hard with storms) but luckily the rods deflected it. So they are all safe and sound.
